Mons Peter Jeffrey (Rector)
I am a priest of the Diocese of Sandhurst in Victoria, Australia; and was appointed in 2011 by the New Zealand Bishops to be the Rector of Holy Cross Seminary. I was ordained in 1963 and have been involved in seminary formation work for over 20 years. I spent twelve years on the staff of Corpus Christi Provincial Seminary, in Melbourne, including six as rector. I later spent eight years - including four as rector - at the Pacific regional Seminary in Suva, Fiji. Immediately prior to my appointment to Holy Cross Seminary I was parish priest at St Brendan's parish in Shepparton - a country parish in northern Victoria - for 16 years. In addition to my seminary and parish-based roles, I was also Chair of the Sandhurst School Education Board for 15 years, Director of the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria (representing the priests of Victoria) and Chair of a diocesan Ecumenical Commission for 14 years. I see my 28 years as a pastoral priest in parishes of a country diocese as valuable preparation for my role in the New Zealand seminary
